The Garden of Remembrance

The Garden of Remembrance at the back of the youth club remembers 4 men who lost their lives during the troubles and they all came from the Fountain.One of the first victims of the troubles William King was kicked to death on his way home to the Fountain Estate at the corner of London Street.He was 49years of age.The date was 24th September 1969.

The other victims were David Montgomeryage 20years old from the Cregagh area of East Belfast, he had joined the RUC in the 1970, He had been due to transfer from Londonderry where he was stationed over a week earlier but he asked to be allowed to remain there until June when he planned to marry a 19 year old local girl.
