The garden is designed to reflect the heritage and character of the Fountain community and was initiated by the Cathedral Youth club. The Bastion plots use many symbolic images taken from the City’s history.
The wagon wheel shape with seven beds represents each class in Fountain Primary School.
The railway sleepers represent the GNR railway, which ran along the nearby Foyle Road.
The Bastion Plots in the Fountain were generously funded by Co-Operation Ireland, and built by Conservation Northern Ireland.
